HONG KONG - Siobhan Bernadette Haughey of Hong Kong, China took silver in the women's 100m freestyle at the 16th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in Melbourne on Thursday.
The 25-year-old Haughey was overtaken just before the wall by Australia's Emma McKeon, who broke a championship record with 50.77 seconds. McKeon won gold by 0.1 of a second while Netherlands' Marrit Steenbergen claimed bronze.
Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Kevin Yeung Yun-hung congratulated Haughey for her win.
"With her unparalleled strength and spirit of striving for excellence, Siobhan Bernadette Haughey has triumphed in the competition,” Yeung was quoted as saying in a statement.

“Haughey won a medal in the same category for two consecutive Championships, demonstrating extraordinary capability. I am proud of her outstanding performance and wish her the best in upcoming events," he added.
