TEHRAN/WASHINGTON/MANILA/DOHA — Iran's main military command, Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said on Thursday night the US army attacked two Iranian vessels near the Strait of Hormuz and concurrently carried out airstrikes on civilian areas in the southern Iranian province of Hormozgan and Qeshm Island in cooperation with some regional states.
The attacks by the US "aggressive and terrorist" army violated the ceasefire between Iran and the United States, said Ebrahim Zolfaghari, the headquarters' spokesman, according to Iranian media.
One of the targeted vessels was an oil tanker sailing from Iran's territorial waters near Jask toward the Strait of Hormuz, and the other was entering the waterway near Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates, Zolfaghari said, adding that the targeted civilian areas were located in Bandar-e Khamir and Sirik, both in Hormozgan province.
He noted that Iran's armed forces immediately retaliated by attacking US military vessels east of the Strait of Hormuz and south of Iran's Chabahar port, causing significant damage to them.
He said the US and those countries supporting it should know that Iran will give a crushing response to any aggression without any hesitation.
Iranian media reported Thursday night several explosions in Iran's southern cities and the capital Tehran.
The official news agency IRNA reported that two massive sounds were heard west of Tehran, followed by the activation of air defense for several minutes.
The semi-official Mehr news agency reported a US and Israeli attack on a naval base in Minab County in Hormozgan province early Friday.

Meanwhile, US forces on Thursday targeted Iranian military facilities, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed.
The US military "eliminated inbound threats and targeted Iranian military facilities responsible for attacking US forces including missile and drone launch sites; command and control locations; and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance nodes," said the command on X.
"No US assets were struck," the command said, adding that it does not seek escalation.

Iran's semi-official Fars news agency said on Thursday that parts of a pier in Qeshm Island have been targeted during an exchange of fire between Iranian armed forces and the "enemy."
Identifying the pier as "Bahman," Fars reported that multiple explosions were heard in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas and on Qeshm Island, though the cause remained undetermined.
The explosions in Bandar Abbas were related to the Iranian air defense's confrontation with two "micro aerial vehicles," the semi-official Tasnim news agency quoted local sources as saying, adding that the United Arab Emirates could have been behind the attack on the pier in Qeshm Island.
Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said on Thursday night that the US violated the ceasefire by attacking several areas in Iran, and the Iranian forces responded with missile and drone strikes against US destroyers near the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump urges Iran to sign deal fast
Three world-class American destroyers that just transited out of the Strait of Hormuz sustained no damage, US President Donald Trump said Thursday, urging Iran to quickly sign a deal.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said great damage was done to the Iranian attackers, and threatened that "just like we knocked them out again today, we'll knock them out a lot harder, and a lot more violently, in the future, if they don't get their Deal signed, FAST!"

US Central Command said in a statement on Thursday that US forces intercepted "unprovoked Iranian attacks" and responded with self-defense strikes as its Navy ships were passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
However, Iran's main military command, Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said it retaliated against US military vessels, causing significant damage after they attacked two Iranian vessels near the strait in violation of the ceasefire between the two countries.
7 Filipino injured in drone attack
Seven Filipino seafarers were injured after a drone attack struck the container ship "San Antonio" in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, the Philippines' Department of Migrant Workers said Thursday.
In a statement, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the seven Filipinos were among the crew members hurt when a drone hit the vessel.
Cacdac said the Filipino crew members survived the attack and are currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in the region for burns and gas inhalation caused by the explosion triggered by the drone strike.
Of the seven injured Filipino seafarers, Cacdac said four sustained minor injuries while three remain under intensive care.
Iran says no conclusion reached
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Thursday the country has not yet reached a conclusion on the US peace proposal and has not responded to Washington.
In an interview with the official news agency IRNA, he noted that Iran is still reviewing the messages exchanged via Pakistani mediation.
Baghaei said Iran's latest discussions with Pakistan have focused on Tehran's 14-point proposed plan to end the war with the US and Israel, which has been delivered to Washington through Islamabad.
He added that the US has shared its views on Iran's proposal in the form of a plan.
The foreign ministry spokesperson noted that Iran is reviewing the US proposal and will convey its response to Pakistan once a conclusion is reached. Based on these exchanges of messages, the next step will be decided, he said.

Normal traffic in Hormuz 'hinges on ending war'
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has said that maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz will only return to normal when the US-Israeli war stops permanently and the US naval blockade and "illegal" sanctions against Iran are lifted.
In a letter addressed to the United Nations (UN), Araghchi criticized a "unilateral and provocative" draft resolution presented to the Security Council by the US and Bahrain about the situation of the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement released by the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Thursday.
The US and a number of Arab states met at the UN in New York on Wednesday to discuss the new resolution to guarantee freedom of navigation in the strait.
The draft resolution urges Iran to, among other things, cease attacks, laying mines and applying tolls in the waterway.
Qatar urges constructive response to mediation efforts
Qatar's prime minister on Thursday called on all parties to respond constructively to ongoing mediation efforts aimed at reviving negotiations between the US and Iran and reaching a lasting peace agreement.
Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani made the remarks during a phone call with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to a statement from Qatar's Foreign Ministry.
The Qatari official reaffirmed his country's support for efforts to resolve the crisis through diplomacy and thanked Pakistan and other mediators for helping facilitate a ceasefire between the US and Iran.
The two sides also discussed bilateral ties, regional developments, and Pakistan's efforts to support de-escalation and strengthen regional security and stability, the statement said.
