CPC centenary, 24th anniversary of HK's return to motherland marked

HONG KONG - Flag-raising ceremonies and a series of events were held in Hong Kong Thursday morning as the special administrative region celebrates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 24th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland.

Officials of the central government and the Hong Kong SAR government attended the flag-raising ceremonies, which were held at the Golden Bauhinia Square and the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong SAR.

Acting Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR John Lee Ka-chiu delievered a speech at the reception, which was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

A ceremony organized by the Hong Kong Celebrations Association was held later in the day.
