Hong Kong confirms 1 new COVID-19 case, tally at 1,197

HONG KONG - Hong Kong reported one new imported case of the COVID-19 caused by a novel coronavirus, bringing the city's infection tally to 1,197, according to a press release issued by the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) on Saturday. 

The CHP urged members of the public to maintain an appropriate social distance from other people to minimize the risk of infection

The new case involved a 39-year-old woman who came to Hong Kong from the Philippines. She is asymptomatic and was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital directly from AsiaWorld-Expo upon her arrival in the city.

The center again urged members of the public to maintain an appropriate social distance from other people to minimize the risk of infection. 

"Given the situation of COVID-19 infection remains severe and that there is a continuous increase in the number of cases around the world, members of the public are strongly urged to avoid all non-essential travel outside Hong Kong,” according to the news release.

According to Hong Kong's Hospital Authority, 1,095 patients have recovered from the infection as of Saturday noon while 95 remained in hospital, including one in critical condition.
