The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government on Friday announced the list of general holidays for 2026, stipulating 17 public holidays in addition to regular Sundays.
January kicks off with New Year's Day on Jan 1 (Thursday). The Lunar New Year celebrations will span three days from Feb 17 to 19 (Tuesday to Thursday), covering the first to the third day of the Lunar calendar.

In April, the Easter break commences with Good Friday on April 3 (Friday) and continues on April 4 (Saturday). As the Qingming Festival falls on a Sunday, April 6 (Monday) will serve as a substitute holiday. Given that April 6 coincides with Easter Monday, April 7 (Tuesday) will be added as an extra public holiday.
Labour Day is observed on May 1 (Friday), while the holiday in commemoration of the Birthday of the Buddha will be shifted to May 25 (Monday) due to the actual date falling on a Sunday. Tuen Ng Festival is set for June 19 (Friday).

July 1, the HKSAR Establishment Day, which marks the city’s return to the motherland, falls on Wednesday.
The day after the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival is scheduled for Sept 26 (Saturday), and National Day is on Oct 1 (Thursday). With the Chung Yeung Festival falling on a Sunday, Oct 19 (Monday) will be designated as the replacement holiday.
Christmas Day falls on Dec 25 (Friday), followed by the first weekday after Christmas on Dec 26 (Saturday).
