Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region John Lee Ka-chiu will depart on Tuesday to attend the 29th Beijing Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium in Beijing and the ninth China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.

During his visit to Beijing, Lee will deliver a speech at the opening ceremony of the symposium on Wednesday and meet with the capital’s officials.

Under the theme "Beijing-Hong Kong Together into the 15th Five-Year Plan", this year's symposium aims to promote deeper practical cooperation and stronger complementary advantages between the two places, and to jointly seize new opportunities arising from the nation’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).

Heading to Shanghai on Wednesday, Lee will attend the opening ceremony of the CIIE and the Hongqiao International Economic Forum on Thursday.

At the CIIE, he will visit the Hong Kong exhibition area and the booths of the city’s enterprises, and address a subforum of the Hongqiao International Economic Forum.

He will also meet with officials of Shanghai to deepen Shanghai-Hong Kong cooperation.

Lee will return to Hong Kong on Friday. During his absence, Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan Kwok-ki will serve as the acting chief executive.
