HK sees 11.6% rise in property sales in September

The Land Registry of Hong Kong recorded 6,438 sale and purchase agreements for all building units received for registration in September, up 11.6 percent compared with August and down 6.3 percent year-on-year.

The total consideration for such agreements in September increased 20.1 percent from the previous month to HK$53.5 billion ($6.81 billion), representing a 0.01 percent year-on-year increase, according to a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government statement on Monday.

Of the agreements, 4,761 were for residential units, an 18.5 percent rise over August and a 15.6 percent drop from a year ago.

The total consideration for residential units was HK$46.8 billion, an increase of 29.3 percent compared with the previous month and 0.9 percent lower year-on-year.

Members of the public made 463,031 searches of land registers in September, down 73.5 percent compared with August but up 15.4 percent from a year ago.
