Beijing Capital International Airport anticipates handling over 1.66 million passenger trips during the holiday, averaging 237,000 daily. The airport expects to manage 9,448 flights, or about 1,350 per day, with passenger traffic peaking on Oct 1 and Oct 7 at over 245,000 trips each day.
Popular domestic destinations include Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Chongqing, and Guiyang, while Bangkok, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, and Bali are top international choices.
Reflecting broader national demand, the civil aviation sector is expected to handle 31.19 million passenger trips from Sept 25 to Oct 7, averaging 2.4 million daily, up 3.6 percent year-on-year, according to Ma Bing, deputy head of the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
The period is projected to reach a record high for passenger traffic, with daily peaks likely exceeding 2.6 million.
International travel is a strong growth area, with holiday period bookings up 22.5 percent year-on-year. Flights to neighboring countries like Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Laos increased by 20 percent, while longer routes to the UK, Germany, and Spain rose by 15 percent.

Domestic demand remains robust, with average daily bookings at the 10 major aviation hubs exceeding 490,000, up 3.9 percent year-on-year. Destinations known for seasonal attractions, such as Hulunbuir in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Dehong in Yunnan province and Altay in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, are seeing traffic increases of over 30 percent.
Beijing Daxing International Airport is also preparing for heavy traffic, expecting to handle 11,040 flights and 1.79 million passenger trips during the broader travel period. Its busiest day is forecasted to be Oct 1, with around 180,000 passenger trips and 1,150 flights.
