“Intense gusts may continue to affect Hong Kong. Seek safe shelter as soon as possible if you are outdoors,” the HKO said, adding that intense gusts of around 80 kilometers per hour were recorded at Tai O at around 12:35 am.
Due to the threat of serious flooding and inclement weather, the HKO advised members of the public to take shelter in a safe place and avoid attempting to travel until the black rainstorm warning signal is lifted and traffic conditions have improved.

It said heavy rain was affecting the northern part of the New Territories, especially Yuen Long, Sheung Shui, and Ta Kwu Ling.
Residents in the northern New Territories, who are likely to be affected, are advised to take necessary precautions as the heavy downpour may bring about flash floods, the HKO said.
Those living near rivers should stay alert to weather conditions and consider evacuation if their homes become flooded, it added.
