HONG KONG — A horse-themed light projection began illuminating the dome façade of the Hong Kong Space Museum from Thursday evening, marking one of the highlights of the “Hong Kong ICH Month 2026” celebrations.

The Journey of the Horse: A Legacy of Arts and Culture light show, sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, will run until June 24, with looping screenings nightly from 8:15 pm to 10 pm. Each session lasts approximately three minutes and is free for public viewing.

With horses as its theme, the show integrates museum exhibits with intangible cultural heritage (ICH) elements. It features horse-related historical relics, art treasures, and scientific knowledge, illustrating how the imagery of horses inspires artistic creation.

Hong Kong’s traditional ICH items are also woven into the show, including traditional festive celebrations, Cantonese opera, and blown sugar techniques.

At the opening ceremony on Thursday evening, Winnie Yip, head of Charities (Culture & Sports Cluster; Community Engagement) of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, said the light show blends technology and tradition, creating a new attraction for visitors while showcasing the rich heritage of the horse in Hong Kong and Chinese culture.

The program is one of the activities under Hong Kong ICH Month 2026, organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. The month-long event, running from May 30 to June 30, also includes activities such as ICH Carnival, ICH Highlight Tours, and “10 Living ICH Treasures” Mobile Classrooms.
