BEIJING - The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Thursday said Myanmar's Aung San Suu Kyi is a long-standing friend of China, and that China has consistently monitored developments regarding her situation.

Spokesperson for the ministry Lin Jian told a regular press briefing that as a friendly neighbor, China supports Myanmar in pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions and stands ready to support all parties in Myanmar in advancing broader, more solid, and longer-lasting peace and reconciliation.
