KYIV/MOSCOW - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday that lawmakers will extend martial law and general mobilization for an additional 90 days, the parliament's press service reported.

The measures, currently set to expire on May 4, would be extended until Aug 2 if the parliament endorses the proposal.

Ukrinform news agency reported that lawmakers are expected to vote on the proposal later this week.

Martial law in Ukraine has been extended 18 times previously since it was first introduced in February 2022.

Separately, an employee of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) was killed in a Ukrainian drone strike on the plant's transport facility, the plant said on Monday.

The strike targeted the grounds of the ZNPP transport workshop.

ZNPP Director of Communications Yevgenia Yashina told local media that the transport workshop where the fatal incident took place is situated in an industrial zone outside the plant's main operational perimeter.

"All attacks on the ZNPP pose a threat not only to local residents but also to broader regional security. Such strikes are an assault on human lives and the collective future," plant authorities said.
