HK sees 3.75m trips during first 3 days of Easter-Qingming break

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region recorded over 3.75 million inbound and outbound passenger trips during the first three days of Easter and Qingming holidays, according to data from the Immigration Department of the HKSAR government.

Hong Kong's land, sea, and air checkpoints logged a total of 3,752,724 cross-boundary trips from Good Friday until Easter Sunday, when the city also marked the Qingming Festival. The holiday break ends on Tuesday.

Figures released by the department showed that Good Friday saw 1,234,749 trips, 1,235,949 on Saturday, and 1,282,026 on Easter Sunday.

The official data also showed that arrivals from the Chinese mainland reached a total of 331,517 over the three-day period. 

Lo Wu remained the busiest boundary control point during the entire period, handling a high of 247,176 trips on Sunday.

The ImmD earlier said that it expected to see over 6.44 million passenger trips during the Easter and Qingming holidays from April 3 to 7.
