The Hong Kong delegation achieved historic results at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, securing nearly 300 awards including a record 12 Special Awards and the prestigious Grand Prix.
Representing 44 organizations from local universities, research institutes, technology companies, government departments and schools, the delegation received 57 Gold Medals with Congratulations of Jury and 98 Gold Medals, setting a record result for the Hong Kong delegation.
The Oasis One International Limited claimed the Grand Prix for its tropical marine finfish aquaculture industrial chain solution. Special Awards winners included the Drainage Services Department's pipeline inspection robot "T300", InnoHK research projects from the University of Hong Kong and Chinese University of Hong Kong, and other innovations from City University, Baptist University, Polytechnic University and MTR Corporation.
The Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Professor Sun Dong congratulated the delegation on "shining on the global innovation and technology stage", attributing the success to Hong Kong's strong research capabilities and talent advantages. He said the government will increase resources for research and talent training, and align with the nation's 15th Five-Year Plan to develop Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology center.
The International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, now in its 51st year, is the world's largest invention exhibition.
