HKO: Temperatures to dip again to as low as 12°C midweek

Temperatures in Hong Kong are expected to drop again to as low as 12 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.

The HKO said a winter monsoon will reach the coast of Guangdong later Monday, bringing cooler and dry weather to the region in the next couple of days.

“It will be fine and very dry with rather large temperature difference between day and night,” the observatory said in a weather update Sunday.

Temperatures ranged are forecast to range between 12°C and 18°C on Wednesday, or two degrees lower than those recorded on Sunday.

Ta Kwu Ling and Sheung Shui in the New Territories could see on Wednesday a low of 7°C and 9°C, respectively.

In Tseung Kwan O, the mercury could drop to a low of 10°C while Wong Chuk Hang in Hong Kong Island could see 11°C.

Last Friday, the minimum temperature recorded at the observatory dipped to 12.8°C, the lowest so far this winter.

Hong Kong is expected to see mainly fine weather on Monday, with a minimum temperature of 15°C in urban areas, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories, the HKO said, adding that the maximum temperature during the day is expected to reach around 22°C.
