HONG KONG — In a celebration of horological innovation, Patek Philippe presented its first new collection in nearly 25 years, the Cubitus line, during an exclusive event at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Cruise Terminal late last year.
The gathering attracted nearly 500 distinguished guests who experienced the new timepieces in a custom-designed 3,000-square-meter venue overlooking the historic former airport runway.
The Cubitus collection, initially launched globally in October 2024, represents a significant expansion of Patek Philippe's repertoire, blending bold geometry with sporting elegance. The collection features a distinctive square-shaped case with rounded corners and dials adorned with horizontal relief embossing. Following the initial success, the manufacture expanded the line in 2025 to include medium-sized references in rose gold and white gold.

President Thierry Stern presided over the event, which transformed the iconic Kai Tak venue into an immersive environment reflecting the Cubitus concept. The setting incorporated vibrant, modern elements that evoked a youthful spirit while maintaining the sophistication expected of the Geneva-based manufacture.
The exhibition showcased Patek Philippe's commitment to design diversity through a dedicated "Creative Passion" area featuring 15 unique timepieces from the 20th century. An interactive digital display educated guests on the evolution of "shaped watches" – the manufacturer's non-round models – spanning from the 1910s to the 1980s.

Master watchmakers were on hand to explain the technical intricacies of the Cubitus collection, providing insights into the research, development, and craftsmanship behind each piece.
Guests enjoyed hands-on experience in a dedicated "try-on" zone where they could appreciate the new case design firsthand.
The evening combined horological excellence with dynamic entertainment featuring live musicians, DJs, drummers, and dancers, creating an atmosphere where guests could share their passion for fine watchmaking.
The event underscored Patek Philippe's philosophy of maintaining close relationships with its markets while upholding the ten values that have guided the manufacture for over 180 years.
As the last independent, family-owned watch manufacture, Patek Philippe continues its tradition of innovation with over 200 patents to its name. The Cubitus collection represents the latest chapter in this legacy, embracing the entire know-how essential for producing exceptional timepieces bearing the Patek Philippe Seal.
