Team Hong Kong, China achieved another podium finish at the World Games 2025 in Chengdu on Tuesday as Cheung Yat-lam claimed a silver medal in the Wushu Men's Sanda 70kg event.

Facing South Korea's Song Gi-cheol, Cheung lost the first round but tied the score in the second. Although edged by Song 2-1 in the final score, Cheung still secured a silver medal for Hong Kong, marking the team's fifth medal at the Games.
"Cheung Yat-lam made his debut at the World Games and demonstrated explosive power on the platform, with precise and sharp movements. He fully showcased his fast, fierce, and accurate techniques while flexibly applying offensive and defensive tactics,” said Wong Po-kee, chef de mission of the Hong Kong, China delegation.

Hong Kong has so far secured three gold, one silver, and one bronze medals at the World Games, compared with one gold and four bronzes at the 2022 edition in Alabama, the United States.
The World Games 2025, taking place from Aug 7 to 17, features more than 200 medal events across 34 sports disciplines. Hong Kong athletes are competing in seven sports, including air sports, billiards, karate, orienteering, squash, water skiing, and wushu.
