SEOUL - South Korean President Lee Jae-myung on Monday held a summit meeting with visiting Vietnamese leader To Lam in Seoul, according to the South Korean presidential office.
Lee, who took office in June, met with Lam, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, who was on a four-day state visit to South Korea since Sunday.

The two leaders agreed to step up efforts to reach the goal of raising the bilateral trade volume to $150 billion by 2030 through the bilateral free trade agreement.
Trade between the two countries, which are the third-largest trading partners to each other, amounted to $86.7 billion last year. About 10,000 South Korean companies have been operating in Vietnam.

Lee asked for support for South Korean companies in Vietnam's large-scale infrastructure projects such as high-speed railways, nuclear power and new city developments, while Lam vowed to find detailed ways to cooperate with South Korea.

The Vietnamese leader expressed hope to strengthen cooperation in science and technology, such as semiconductor and artificial intelligence, while the South Korean president hoped to expand the strategic cooperation in science and technology, energy, electrical grid, and critical minerals.
The two leaders agreed to expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges and strengthen cooperation on regional and international issues.
