HONG KONG - The China Oriental Performing Arts Group held an open rehearsal of Dongpo: Life in Poems at the Tsim Sha Tsui Cultural Centre in Hong Kong on Friday.

The performance interprets the works of Su Dongpo (1037–1101), one of China’s most revered literary figures, integrating contemporary dance, poetry, traditional Chinese painting, calligraphy, seal engraving, guqin, Chinese opera, and martial arts.

The production presents the concept of “poetry embodies dance, and dance incorporates poetry”, reflecting Su’s literary themes through movement and music.

The event is part of the Chinese Culture Festival, organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, which features programs across Hong Kong to promote Chinese arts and cultural heritage.

The full production of Dongpo: Life in Poems will premiere later this month.

China Daily's Andy Chong captured these moments on Friday.
