HONG KONG – The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region welcomed 139,585 visitors from the Chinese mainland on Saturday, marking the start of the three-day Tuen Ng Festival holiday. The figure reflects strong cross-boundary traffic and continued interest in Hong Kong as a short-haul destination during public holidays.

Key tourist areas, including Tsim Sha Tsui’s Avenue of Stars, saw steady footfall as travelers opted to remain in the city for the festival period.

The Tuen Ng Festival, also known as the Dragon Boat Festival, is a statutory holiday in both the SAR and the mainland.

China Daily's Andy Chong captured the cheerful moments.
