CDHK a ‘bridge’ for foreigners to better understand China
By China Daily

Editor’s note: As China Daily Hong Kong Edition celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, we have invited leaders from various sectors who have deep bonds with us to join us in our celebrations. Let’s read what they say, as well as their messages of congratulations and best wishes for CDHK’s future.

I want to extend my congratulations and best wishes to China Daily Hong Kong on its 25th anniversary. What a milestone!

I still remember the first time I collaborated with China Daily Hong Kong, in 2008, when I was invited to do an interview about Ocean Park and tourism in Hong Kong. As a newspaper lover who goes through various journals every day, I was really impressed by China Daily Hong Kong’s professionalism — not only by the high quality of its news products, but also by its global vision. The articles are informative and give me an insight about China, which I enjoy reading very much. Its forums and English competition also act as a bridge for English-speakers and foreigners to understand China better.

Over the years, I have collaborated with CDHK many times, whether as an interviewee, a guest speaker, or a special guest at its English-speaking competition. I have lived many unforgettable moments with CDHK, among which the special talk with Aden Su, the champion of the Senior Primary Division of the “21st Century Cup” National English Speaking Competition in 2021, remains the most memorable. It is very special that CDHK arranged for Aden to become a reporter and to interview me. We spent a day together, visiting several places and having nice chats. Such an arrangement also reflects that CDHK is community-focused.

As we all know, the past few years have been challenging for the media business, but China Daily Hong Kong has done such a good job! I look forward to celebrating with CDHK its next 25th anniversary, with my best wishes for it to have an ever-more shining future!
