WASHINGTON - US President Joe Biden continued to test positive for COVID-19 on Monday, White House physician Dr. Kevin O'Connor said.

More than a million people in the United States have died from COVID-19, and 91 million cases have been reported

"This morning, as could be anticipated, his (Biden's) SARS-CoV-2 antigen testing remained positive," O'Connor wrote in a memo. "The president will continue his strict isolation measures as previously described."

Biden "will continue to conduct the business of the American people from the Executive Residence," the physician added.

Days after ending isolation and treatment for a COVID-19 infection, Biden tested positive for the coronavirus again on Saturday, albeit with no symptoms.

A long list of Biden administration officials and US lawmakers have contracted the virus over the past few months. US Senator John Cornyn announced on Monday that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

Nearly two and a half years into the pandemic, cases and hospitalizations have been on the rise across the United States, driven by the BA.5 lineage of the Omicron variant.
