DALIAN, China - Wuhan Three Towns smashed Guangzhou FC 6-0 to condemn the eight-time Chinese Super League champions their worst league defeat in history on Tuesday.

Nicolae Stanciu took the lead for Three Towns with a free-kick in the 11th minute, and Davidson made it 2-0 in the 29th minute when he capitalized on a scuffle in front of goal.

Due to financial troubles at the club's parent company, Guangzhou sold many national team players in the last transfer window. The team has an average age of just 21 and contains no overseas players

In the second half, Xie Pengfei and Zhang Xiaobin both scored to make it 4-0. In the 76th minute, Stanciu scored again from another free-kick, and Marcao's shot from inside the box in the 84th minute sealed the game for Wuhan.

Guangzhou are at the bottom of the standings after two rounds of matches.

Elsewhere, Felicio Brown Forbes scored two goals to lead Wuhan Yangtze River to a 2-1 victory over Hebei FC, and Zhejiang FC drew 0-0 with Changchun Yatai.
