SHENZHEN – Major cooperation zones of Shenzhen and Hong Kong have fully resumed work in Shenzhen as the coronavirus in the city wanes. Measures are also being rolled out to assist in their recovery.

The Shenzhen side of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park in the Lok Ma Chau Loop wedged between the two cities was at the heart of the outbreak, but it reopened for business this week.

Almost all the firms and scientific research institutions have resumed normal operation, except one with most of its employees located outside the province, according to the newspaper Wen Wei Po. The construction of key projects is also progressing in an orderly manner.

To prevent the spread of infections after normal operation, the park is utilizing robots to disinfect regularly and has set up designated areas for picking up takeout and deliveries.

Another Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation zone – Qianhai – also resumed business and the authority has launched a series of measures to ease the pressure on firms.

The office rent from February through April will be waived for those in properties of the Qianhai authority and State-owned companies, while the rent from May to June will be reduced by 50 percent.

For Hong Kong-invested small and macro firms, the period of rent exemption could be as long as eight months.

Moreover, subsidies are also being granted to keep employment stable, compensate suspended construction projects, and warehouse rents.
