NEW YORK - A firing drill was held to check and judge the proficiency in the action procedures of the railway-borne missile regiment in North Phyongan province on Friday local time, the official Korean Central News Agency of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea reported early Saturday.

The regiment "demonstrated high maneuverability and rate of hits," and discussed ways to "set up proper railway-borne missile operating system across the country," KCNA said.

The drill was supervised by commanding officers of the Korean People's Army and leading officials of the Academy of Defence Science, the KCNA said.

The regiment received a firepower mission at short notice from the General Staff in the morning on Friday and swiftly moved to the firing ground. A set target in the East Sea of Korea was precisely struck with two tactical guided missiles, it added.

It was the third time the DPRK has launched ballistic missiles since New Year's Day.
