HONG KONG – A Tuen Mun resident was sent to the hospital while the relevant close contacts were arranged to the quarantine center after the resident's COVID-19 test result was indeterminate in a targeted testing operation overnight.

Government staff members cordoned off two buildings in Tuen Mun on Thursday night after two residents tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19.

The government set up a “restricted area” starting at 7 pm at JC Place Tower 1, 345 Castle Peak Road – Castle Peak Bay and at Block 2, Hoi Tak Gardens, 13-17 Wing Fat Lane, Tuen Mun 30 minutes later.

JC Place Tower 1 was cordoned off after a 21-year-old resident tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19, the Centre for Health Protection said

The buildings' residents were required to stay in their premises and undergo testing for the virus at temporary specimen collection stations.

In a statement issued around Friday noon, the government said around 196 residents have been tested at Hoi Tak Gardens, and all but one tested negative. The result of the remaining resident could not be determined.

"For the sake of prudence, the concerned person and the relevant close contact has been hospitalized and sent to the quarantine center for follow-up respectively," the statement reads.

The block was cordoned off Thursday after a 22-year-old nurse who works at JP Partners Medical tested preliminarily positive. She last went to work on Jan 12.

An initial investigation showed that she was not at the Gold Coast Piazza clinic when a 45-year-old woman and her 11-year-old son who were infected with the virus sought medical attention there on Jan 3.
