CSL: Guangzhou ends Shandong's unbeaten record

GUANGZHOU - Guangzhou FC overcame the unbeaten Shandong Taishan with a 2-1 victory, while Chongqing Liangjiang Athletic crushed Guangzhou City 4-0 to fetch its first win of the season in the 9th round of Chinese Super League (CSL) here on Tuesday.

With the victory, Guangzhou FC moved into the first place in the CSL

Yang Liyu opened the scoring for Guangzhou FC with a low shot in the 39th minute, and Ai Kesen extended the lead in the 67th minute with a header. Shandong teed up a nervy in the 90th minute when Perdo Delgado slotted into the empty goal.

With the victory, Guangzhou FC moved into the first place in the CSL.

Elsewhere, Chongqing brushed aside Guangzhou City 4-0.

Chongqing got off to a good start in the 17th minute with a header from Uzbekistan player Dostonbek Tursunov. 11 minutes later, Feng Jin sent a long diagonal pass from the right flank for Fernandinho Silva to score.

The game looked secure when Dong Honglin, who came in as a substitute, made it three in the 61st minute. And Miller Bolanos provided the crowning touch to Chongqing's lead four minutes before the final whistle.

"Our players are terrific. They showed the fans how they overcame difficulties and grew in adversity," said Jang Eui-ryong, the head coach of Chongqing.

Also on Tuesday, Shenzhen FC defeated Qingdao FC 4-1, Henan Songshan Longmen beat Cangzhou Mighty Lions 2-1.
