Xi thanks Cuba for greetings on victory over poverty

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese president, has replied to Cuban leaders in appreciation for their congratulations on China's complete victory in poverty alleviation.

Xi's letter of reply was sent recently to Raul Castro Ruz, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, and Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

In his letter of reply, President Xi Jinping said that China will as always support Cuba in staying committed to the socialist path and will bring China-Cuba relations to a new level

In his letter, Xi said that China and Cuba are good friends, good comrades and good brothers, and in recent years, the bilateral traditional friendship has deepened and friendly cooperation has developed in an all-around way.

In the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, China and Cuba helped each other in the same boat, and the friendship between the two countries has been raised to a new height, Xi said.

China will as always support Cuba in staying committed to the socialist path and will bring China-Cuba relations to a new level, Xi added.

On behalf of the Communist Party of Cuba, the Cuban government and people, the two Cuban leaders warmly congratulated China on its all-around victory in poverty alleviation.

They praised China, led by the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, for succeeding in eliminating extreme poverty and achieving the poverty eradication goals outlined in the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development 10 years ahead of schedule.

They said that Cuba is willing to unswervingly deepen the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
