HK reports no new local virus cases for 1st time since mid-Nov

HONG KONG - Hong Kong reported no new local COVID-19 infections on Saturday for the first time since mid-November when the fourth wave of the outbreak began.

The city reported six new imported infections, according to a release issued by the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health, pushing the overall tally in the financial hub to 11,445.

The 37-year-old woman from Indonesia has stayed at Silka Far East hotel in Tsuen Wan following her arrival in Hong Kong.

A total of 229 cases have been recorded in the past 14 days (March 13-26), including 153 local cases of which 33 were untraceable, according to the center.

According to the Hospital Authority, 164 COVID-19 patients are still hospitalized in 21 public hospitals and the North Lantau Hospital Hong Kong Infection Control Centre, including 10 in critical condition.

As of Friday, around 429,500 residents have been vaccinated against COVID-19, according to a separate release from the government. Among them, around 5,600 have been fully vaccinated.
