CBA: Beijing extend winning streak, Shanxi edge Qingdao in overtime

ZHUJI - The Beijing Ducks defeated the Zhejiang Golden Bulls 109-99 for their third consecutive victory, while the Shanxi Loongs secure a 105-102 victory in overtime against the Qingdao Eagles in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Friday.

Also on Friday, the Jilin Northeast Tigers beat the Tianjin Pioneers 114-108

Beijing blew an 19-point lead in the fourth quarter, but held on at the stretch to win the game. Beijing's Jonathan Gibson scored 24 points to lead five players in double figures, with Liu Xiaoyu adding 22 points and nine assists. Fan Ziming had 12 points and nine blocks.

Zhejiang jumped out to a 8-0 lead, but Beijing quickly bounced back and the teams were knotted at 24 in the first quarter. Beijing finished the first half with a 54-43 lead and took its largest lead of the game at 74-51 in the third quarter.

Nicholas Rakocevic dominated the paint to lead a 18-0 run for Zhejiang, cutting the deficit within one point 86-85 midway through the final quarter. Beijing reset a eight-point lead following Fang Shuo's 3-pointer, and secured the victory from the free throw line.

Meanwhile, Eric Moreland shone in Shanxi's overtime victory against Qingdao, finishing with 28 points and 16 rebounds. Qingdao's Dakari Johnson had 28 points and 23 rebounds.

The match went into overtime as Qingdao's Wang Qingming made a layup to tie the game 92-92. Ge Zhaobao made both free throws with eight seconds left to push Shanxi ahead before Zhang Chengyu missed a buzzer-beater to tie the game.

Also on Friday, the Jilin Northeast Tigers beat the Tianjin Pioneers 114-108.
