Virus: Mainland reports no new local cases, 7 imported

BEIJING - No new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported Tuesday across the Chinese mainland while seven new imported cases were posted, the National Health Commission said Wednesday.

Of the new imported cases, three were reported in Sichuan, two in Guangdong, and one each in Shanxi and Shanghai, the commission said in its daily report.

No new suspected cases or additional deaths related to the disease were reported, the commission added.

Another 15 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery, the commission said, adding that there were 205 patients still being treated.

By the end of Tuesday, a total of 2,940 imported cases had been reported on the mainland. Of them, 2,735 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery while 205 remained hospitalized, with one in severe condition. No deaths from the imported cases had been reported.

So far, a total of 85,489 confirmed cases had been reported on the mainland, including 80,650 recoveries and 4,634 deaths, the commission said.

There were four suspected cases on the mainland, according to the commission, while 8,792 close contacts were still under medical observation after 467 were released from observation.

Twenty-four new asymptomatic cases, all arriving from outside the mainland, were reported, and four asymptomatic cases were re-categorized as confirmed cases.

According to the commission, 376 asymptomatic cases, including 374 from outside the mainland, were still under medical observation.

As of Tuesday, 5,132 confirmed cases, including 105 deaths, had been reported in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 46 cases in Macao SAR, and 521 cases, including seven deaths, in Taiwan.

A total of 4,875 COVID-19 patients in Hong Kong SAR, 46 in Macao SAR and 485 in Taiwan had been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
