Both of Saturday's games were hard-fought affairs, but the best team progressed in each, with PSG offering more than a well-drilled Arsenal in attack.

Marie Antoinette Katoto opened the scoring with a powerful volley from a 14th-minute corner, and although Kim Little set up Beth Mead for the equalizer six minutes before halftime a defensive error 13 minutes from time allowed Katoto to drill in a low ball for Bruun to finish from close range.

Nikita Parris' brave header opened the scoring shortly before halftime, and Lyon looked to be on their way when Amel Majro scored an excellent free-kick just before the hour.

An error from Lyon keeper, Sarah Bouhaddi, who Carolin Simon's free-kick from the right to sneak under her body left Lyon with a nervous last 25 minutes to hold on, but despite Sydney Lohmann clipped the Lyon crossbar with a shot from the edge of the box, Bayern were unable to find an equalizer.
