Zhejiang Lions rout Jilin, Xinjiang smash Guangzhou

QINGDAO, China - Li Jinglong's nine 3-pointers powered the Zhejiang Lions to a 119-96 rout of the Jilin Northeast Tigers, while the Xinjiang Flying Tigers secured the second place in the regular season after crushing the Guangzhou Loong Lions 103-87 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Thursday.

Li had a game-high 29 points after finishing 10 of 19 from the field, including nine of 18 3-pointers. Sun Minghui contributed a double-double with 10 points and 14 assists. Hu Jinqiu added 25 points. Dai Huaibo scored 16 points for Jilin.

Zhejiang claimed a comfortable lead at 42-25 in the first quarter through seven 3-pointers, but powered by Jiang Yuxing, Jilin embarked on a run of 11-5 and 14-0 respectively in the second quarter to bounce back.

Zhejiang held a slender 65-63 advantage into half-time and improved their defense back from the locker room. They commenced the second half with a 23-7 run to open up an insurmountable 18-point lead, and Jilin never managed to cut the deficit.

Keeping a 100 percent shot rate on field goals, center Zhou Qi scored 12 points in the first quarter to help Xinjiang establish a nine-point advantage. With a stable output from him, the Flying Tigers maintained a 10-plus-point lead in the following quarter.

Guangzhou outscored Xinjiang by four points in the third quarter as different players put on the scoreboard.

But the Loong Lions couldn't restrict Zhou's glittering performance in the last quarter and only saw Xinjiang sail to victory.

Also on Thursday, defending champions Guangdong Southern Tigers renewed the winning streak record in a single season to 28 games after sailing past the Nanjing Monkey Kings 131-106.
