BEIJING/WUHAN - China will further integrate emergency and regular COVID-19 prevention and control as Wuhan lifted outbound travel restrictions on Wednesday, according to the National Health Commission.

COVID-19 prevention and response should be carried out targeting the key and most risky links due to an increased flow of people, said Mi Feng, spokesperson for the commission, at a press conference.

The proportion of imported cases sees a continuous increase among the confirmed or asymptomatic cases currently under medical treatment in China, according to Mi.

The commission said earlier on Wednesday it received reports of 62 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland Tuesday, of which 59 were imported.

Three new domestic cases were reported, including two in Shandong province and one in Guangdong province, the National Health Commission said.

Two deaths were reported Tuesday, with one in Shanghai and the other in Hubei province. A total of 12 new suspected cases, of which 11 were imported and one in Guangdong, were reported on the mainland.

According to the commission, 112 people were discharged from hospitals after recovery, while the number of severe cases decreased by 22 to 189.

The overall confirmed cases on the mainland had reached 81,802 by Tuesday, including 1,190 patients who were still being treated, 77,279 patients who had been discharged after recovery, and 3,333 people who died of the disease.

The commission said that 83 people were still suspected of being infected with the virus.

It added that 13,334 close contacts were still under medical observation. On Tuesday, 2,295 people were discharged from medical observation.

The commission said 1,095 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation, including 358 from abroad.

No new confirmed cases were reported Tuesday in Hubei, the provincial health commission said Wednesday, adding that the province recorded one more death.

The commission said Hubei had 670 asymptomatic patients under medical observation by Tuesday, after 50 cases were ruled out and 30 new patients were reported.

Sixty-nine COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery Tuesday. Among the 448 patients being treated in hospital, 84 were still in severe condition and 74 others in critical condition.

Hubei has so far reported 67,803 confirmed COVID-19 cases in total, including 50,008 in Wuhan.

By Tuesday, 935 confirmed cases including four deaths had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 44 confirmed cases in the Macao SAR, and 376 in Taiwan including five deaths.

A total of 236 patients in Hong Kong, 10 in Macao and 61 in Taiwan had been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
