BERLIN - Within four months, Hansi Flick has turned into a influential figures in Bayern Munich's staff. A new contract for the head-coach seems decided, but fans still wait for the official approval of the Bavarian side.

Having led the struggling club back to success as the successor of unlucky Niko Kovac, the 55-year-old seems the only remaining suitable opportunity when it comes to the side's next season coach.

Fans and players demand his appointment as next season's manager. The public opinion increases the pressure for Bayern

Rumors about Flick's future kept Bayern busy over the past weeks.

Last November, the 55-year-old former took over the job while still seen as an interim solution. The stopgap coach has turned into a promising leader, gaining more influence.

Fans and players demand his appointment as next season's manager. The public opinion increases the pressure for Bayern.

Media reports speak of him already having told the 2013 treble winner about his transfer preferences regarding the next season. German internationals such as 23-year-old Leipzig striker Timo Werner and 20-year-old Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz are said to top his list.

Flick seems to have outpaced prominent rivals such as Paris St Germain coach Thomas Tuchel or Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag. Reports speak of a two-year contract. His current contract is running out in summer 2020 after the interim agreement from November was extended twice.

Trying a severe guess, it has to be Flick, Germany's record international Lothar Matthaeus commented. "Next to him, I only see Tuchel as an option," the 150 times capped former midfielder said.

Matthaeus demanded a quick decision from Bayern, "as coach and club need to plan the next season." On top, the contracts of nine vital squad members are running out in 2021.

Time seems a factor as English and German media reports speak of offers blowing in from the Premier League.

Flick answers the speculations with witty humor, putting the responsibility on his wife's shoulders. "She has got the pen," Flick said after repeatedly asked questions about his future.

An exclusive pen was the club's birthday present handed over by Bayern's chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "To lift the secret, it is a pen. With pens like this, we usually sign papers," he said at the clubs' banquet after the first leg of the last-16-round duel of the Champions League against Chelsea (3-0).

Over a week later, the pen is still with the coach's wife. German media puzzle over the question: Why Bayern is keeping Flick waiting that long?

After winning 17 of his 20 games (only two defeats), the former German national team assistant seems to enjoy his exposed position.

He managed to compensate for the loss of Bayern's most successful striker Robert Lewandowski, who is sidelined due to an injury. Bayern won a league game and a German Cup duel without the Pole.

The former midfielder is aware of his rising value on football markets. His stepping back to the second row is a thing of the past. His leading position for the next season is secured, either at Bayern or a club abroad.

Flick said Bayern is preparing for the future by restructuring his management level. "It is not my duty to solve that. I have my thoughts, but keep them to myself," he emphasized.
