Shenzhen offers to donate 1 million face masks to HK

Shenzhen has offered to donate 1 million face masks to Hong Kong in 10 days starting from Monday to help fight against the coronavirus outbreak, Chen Rugui, the mayor of Shenzhen announced.

The face masks were produced by Shenzhen-based medical supplies manufacturers, and have passed quality tests by Shenzhen Institute for Drug Control

The masks will be handed over to the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for distribution to the public through Hong Kong Community Anti-Coronavirus Link, a social group set up to combat the epidemic, according to a statement issued by the office.

The masks were produced by Shenzhen-based medical supplies manufacturers, and have passed quality tests by Shenzhen Institute for Drug Control.

Chen said Shenzhen government has always attached great importance to support Hong Kong in epidemic prevention and will do as much as it can to help the SAR fight against the coronavirus.

Yang Jian, deputy director of the Liaison Office, thanked the Shenzhen government’s move. He said it was heartwarming and showed the two cities united in fighting the epidemic.
