Macao’s casinos to reopen Thursday

Macao’s casinos will reopen for business on Thursday, the city’s Chief Executive Ho Iat-seng said on Monday, after no new case of coronavirus infection was reported in the past 13 days.

After the opening, patrons must wear masks and have their temperature checked before entering

Earlier, Ho announced the closure of all casinos in one of the world’s largest gaming cities for  two weeks from Feb 5 in an all out effort to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus pneumonia.

After the opening, patrons must wear masks and have their temperature checked before entering.

In addition, the city’s government services, including that of the police force, the Economic Bureau and Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, also resumed Monday.

Ten patients were confirmed to have been infected with the coronavirus in Macao. Five of them have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals. As of Monday, the city has no new cases reported for 13 consecutive days.
