Change at top in Shanghai as mayor resigns, acting mayor appointed

The 33rd meeting of the 16th Shanghai Municipal People's Congress announced its decision to accept Gong Zheng's resignation as mayor of Shanghai on Friday. In his stead, Zhu Zhongming was appointed as acting and deputy mayor.
The decision was announced via the official WeChat account of the municipal government of Shanghai.
Zhu, 54, holds a master's degree in public administration.
