Hong Kong Special Administrative Region delegation’s young windsurfers swept the top podium spots in both the boys’ and girls’ iQFoil windsurfing events at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, taking the gold medal tally to 10, breaking the city’s medals record at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023.

Wong Tsz-ho, 18, won six of 11 races in the competition. After discarding his two worst races, he scored a net 13 points – five fewer than the second-placed Japanese sailor – and secured gold under the low-score-wins format.

Wong’s fellow 17-year-old Cheung Tsz-yuet won nine of 11 races and scored a net nine points, eight fewer than Japan’s runner-up, to claim gold.

Adding to the sailing squad’s impressive performance, Ma Kwan-ching snatched a silver in the women’s iQFoil windsurfing event. Huang Zixi also secured second place in the girls’ dinghy event, while Tiago Cheng De Villemor Salgado claimed bronze in the boys’ division.

As of 3 pm on Saturday, the SAR team had bagged 52 medals at the 2026 sports tournament, which ends on Sunday – just one medal short of equaling their medal tally record set at the  Hangzhou Asian Games.
