Macao’s karate team defended its silver in the men’s team kata at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan on Wednesday.

In the final, Macao’s karatekas — Kuok Kin-hang, Fong Man-hou and Cheang Pei-lok — lost 0-5 to Kuwait’s team, taking silver. The same trio also claimed silver at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games.

With the men’s team karate silver, Macao has now won six medals: one gold, four silvers and one bronze.

Separately, in the Women’s Under 50 Kilograms Kumite, Hong Kong’s Tsang Yee-ting managed to take home a silver medal.

Tsang faced Malaysia’s Chandran Shahmalarani in the final, with neither fighter able to score during the three minutes of regular time.

The winner of the gold medal was ultimately decided by hantei (judges’ decision), with the referees ruling that the Malaysian athlete had shown greater initiative to take the victory.

Tsang’s silver takes Hong Kong’s medal tally at this Asian Games to three golds, six silvers and five bronzes, so far.
