Hong Kong’s Labour Department and the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB) Ethnic Minorities Committee will co-organize a two-day employment fair from Wednesday to Thursday, offering over 2,200 job opportunities with dedicated support for ethnic minorities.

The Building a Multicultural Workplace Job Fair will take place at MacPherson Stadium in Mong Kok with free admission, aiming to boost local career prospects and promote the Labour Department's services.

About 50 organizations will participate, with around 25 setting up booths each day to conduct on-the-spot recruitment. A series of career talks will also be held on Wednesday.

A wide range of positions will be available, including engineers, branch managers, marketing development assistants, human resources and administrative assistants, warehouse clerks, flight services officers, and aircraft maintenance mechanic trainees.

More than 80 percent of the vacancies on offer are full-time positions, offering monthly salaries ranging from HK$12,000 ($1530) to HK$24,000. While about 96 percent of the roles require a Secondary Six education level or below, more than a half are open to those without prior work experience.

Job seekers can submit applications during the event and may be selected for on-the-spot interviews. They can also inquire about the Labour Department’s employment services at its dedicated counter.

Five major disciplined services - the Correctional Services Department, the Customs and Excise Department, the Fire Services Department, the Hong Kong Police Force and the Immigration Department - will also set up counters to introduce their career opportunities and entry requirements.

Meanwhile, the DAB’s Ethnic Minorities Committee will introduce its support services for ethnic minorities. Training bodies will also provide information on training courses to visitors, with on-site interpretation services available in Hindi, Urdu and Nepali.
