The Greater Bay Area Conference 2026 was launched on Thursday in Hong Kong, bringing together political and business heavyweights, distinguished scholars and diplomatic envoys to explore the latest development trends in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Centered on the theme “New Dynamics in Asia-Pacific Cooperation, New Opportunities for GBA Connectivity”, the high-profile event – jointly presented by China Daily and the Hong Kong Coalition – opened with welcoming remarks from Qu Yingpu, publisher and editor-in-chief of China Daily.
The conference featured keynote addresses by Leung Chun-ying, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and chief convener of the Hong Kong Coalition; Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu; and Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po.
The event’s agenda encompasses three high-level panel discussions dedicated to Hong Kong’s pivotal financial role within the Asia-Pacific, strategic Shenzhen-Hong Kong synergies in the new space economy and the future of education in the age of artificial intelligence. Through profound insights and meaningful exchanges among policymakers, industry leaders, and academic authorities, this landmark annual gathering reached new heights.
China Daily's photographers Edmond Tang and Adam Lam took the photos.
