A construction worker died after an excavator overturned in Hong Man Tin, trapping him and a colleague, on Monday morning.

The accident happened at around 9:40 am at a construction site along Liberty Avenue. The excavator was moving iron pipes when it tipped to its side and trapped the workers, local media reported.

One of them died while the other, who had a hand injury, was brought to Kwong Wah Hospital.

The Labour Department said in a statement that it immediately deployed staff to the construction site, which was cordoned off, and is now conducting an investigation.
