Today the nation is advancing Chinese modernization on all fronts and implementing the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30). The complex international environment and domestic reform and development tasks underscore the importance of the Party's leadership. This makes Party building not only a political task but also a practical necessity for achieving high-quality development.
The conference emphasized the importance of studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building, a scientific theoretical system that has taken shape through the Party's exploration and practice in the new era.
Since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its core has set forth a series of new ideas, thoughts and strategies in addressing the major questions of the times — what kind of Marxist party should be built for exercising long-term governance, and how should such a party be built. In the process, Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building has taken shape.
Monday's conference highlighted a series of essential requirements embodied in Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building. It emphasized the need to uphold the centralized, unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee, exercise full and rigorous Party self-governance, stay true to the Party's original aspiration and founding mission, take the Party's political building as the overarching principle, build cohesion and forge a solid ideological foundation with the innovative theories of the Party.
It also stressed the need to cultivate high-caliber officials capable of shouldering the mission of national rejuvenation, improve Party conduct on a regular basis, supervise and govern the Party in all respects with strict discipline, take coordinated steps to ensure that officials dare not, cannot and do not want to be corrupt, run the Party with systems and regulations, and fulfill the political responsibility of full and rigorous Party self-governance.
These principles and requirements are being translated into concrete achievements that have strengthened the Party's ability to lead reform, promote development and respond to external risks and uncertainties. The continuous improvement of Party governance has created favorable conditions for economic growth, social stability and long-term national development.
Reflecting on the Party's determination to continuously break new ground in governing and strengthening itself, the conference stressed that Party organizations at all levels must be guided to apply Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building in planning and advancing Party building and take more concrete measures to ensure that all efforts toward rigorous Party self-governance meet higher standards.

The importance of Party building is closely linked to the country's broader development agenda. The central authorities have stressed that innovation-driven development and national rejuvenation ultimately depend on the Party's leadership, effective institutions and capable personnel. Party building provides the political guarantee for coordinating these strategic resources and transforming them into development momentum.
The nation stands at a new historical starting point, and Party building remains a continuing endeavor. The more complex the external environment becomes and the more demanding the tasks of reform and development are, the more imperative it is to uphold the Party's overall leadership and strengthen its governance capacity.
