Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said the administration will work closely with the city’s members of the nation’s top legislature and top political advisory body to promote Hong Kong's further integration into national development.

He made the remarks during two separate engagement sessions on Thursday and Friday with 30 Hong Kong deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) and 90 members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference before they departed for the upcoming national two sessions in Beijing.

The annual plenary gatherings of the CPPCC National Committee and the NPC will kick off on March 4 and 5 respectively.

According to a statement released on Friday evening, Lee described the Hong Kong members as a crucial bridge connecting the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, for their active contributions of insights and suggestions, and for engaging in in-depth discussions on Hong Kong's economic and social development opportunities during the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) period.

He said that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government will work hand in hand with its NPC deputies and CPPCC National Committee members to contribute to the city’s long-term prosperity and stability.

Lee also said that the government will lead Hong Kong in proactively aligning with the plan, consolidating and enhancing its status as an international financial, shipping, and trade center, while striving to develop the city into an international innovation and technology hub and an international hub for high-caliber talent.
