Thai Army investigates after soldier steps on landmine during security mission

BANGKOK - The Royal Thai Army on Wednesday clarified an incident in which a soldier stepped on a landmine while conducting a security mission in Kantharalak district, Sisaket province, with verification efforts currently underway.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:40 pm local time on Wednesday, the army said in a statement.

It received a report from the 2nd Army Area indicating that a soldier from the 132nd Infantry Company stepped on a landmine while carrying out a security mission in the deployment area in Kantharalak District. The injured soldier has already been taken to the hospital.

Meanwhile, local units are securing the area according to safety measures and are working to identify the type of explosive device.
