Hong Kong media tycoon Jimmy Lai Chee-ying, along with eight other defendants, is scheduled to be sentenced on Monday morning, according to the Judiciary’s website, in violation of the National Security Law of the HKSAR.
Lai, 78, founder of the now-defunct tabloid Apple Daily, was found guilty last December on two conspiracy counts of colluding with foreign forces and one count of conspiracy to publish seditious publications.
The charges carry a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
