The inaugural "Hong Kong HEY! Water Festival" was held on Saturday and Sunday in response to the call in the 2025 Policy Address to promote youth development and exchanges.
Centered around the theme of "Move, Music, Mug," the festival at "Runway 1331", located on the site of the old Kai Tak Airport runway, featured a series of water sports competitions, with 128 teams from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Chinese mainland participating.
The games included flat-water rowing, a university exchange regatta for new energy-powered boats, a stand-up paddleboarding challenge, and a dragon boat invitational tournament.
The "Shanxi Hong Kong Connect: Hong Kong-Shanxi Cultural Festival" and the highly dynamic "Hey! Water Wars" party were also held on-site during the festival.
The event not only marked an exuberant conclusion to the Hong Kong summer but also set a new benchmark for youth sports and cultural exchanges, vividly embodying the vision of "transforming the glorious former airport runway into a runway for the dreams of today's youth," according to the event organizer.

"Runway 1331", which served as the main venue for the event, holds profound significance in itself, the organizer said.
Located on Shing Fung Road, Kai Tak, "Runway 1331" sits on the site of the old Kai Tak Airport runway in the heart of Victoria Harbour, bearing witness to Hong Kong's aviation history and spirit of striving.
The organizer said that hosting the festival aims to fully utilize the valuable platform of "Runway 1331" and build it into a solid bridge for promoting interaction, exchange, and integration among youth from Hong Kong, Macao, and the mainland.
“It provides a practical setting for enhancing Hong Kong youth's national consciousness, patriotic spirit, and sense of mission to integrate into the overall national development.”
The event was jointly organized by Pulse Fitness Management Consultant Company Limited and Glorise Tourism & Culture Co, Ltd under China Travel Group, alongside Vivere Sky Group.
