DFSK — a subsidiary brand of Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer Seres Group —unveiled the E5 Plus, its first new energy model for the international market, through a live stream, as the brand celebrated two decades of being in the international market.
The live online broadcast from the Seres headquarters in Chongqing on Oct 22 allowed global viewers to witness the first E5 Plus rolling off the production line.
“The E5 Plus is not just a new model — it's a milestone,” said Joe Zhou, vice-president of Seres Group’s Overseas Business Unit, during the live stream.
“It represents DFSK's big step into smart manufacturing and the new energy era,” Zhou added.
DFSK began exporting commercial vehicles to overseas markets in batches in 2005, with passenger vehicles following in 2016.

So far, the company has exported vehicles to more than 70 countries and regions, with over 500,000 units exported. It ranks first in export share among Chinese brands across various markets, including South America and Southeast Asia.
As a mid-size SUV, the E5 Plus is larger than many of its competitors in its class, offering users more space inside the vehicle. It is about 4.8 meters long, 1.9 meters wide, and 1.7 meters tall, with a wheelbase close to 2.8 meters.
The E5 Plus uses the Seres Super Hybrid system and can adjust its battery state automatically.
Available as both two-wheel and four-wheel drive, PHEV and EVR options offer more power and torque alongside lower energy use to provide a longer driving range of more than 1,000 kilometers.
The E5 Plus is also embedded with a system to monitor battery safety in real time, as well as a self-developed smart vehicle system to enable seamless voice control inside the cabin.

The new model will soon be available in Egypt and Ecuador, according to the company, which expects the expansion to further enhance its competitiveness in the South American and North African markets while injecting new momentum into global green mobility.
Carlos, from Peru, who appeared in the live stream, said he has been driving DFSK’s cars for many years and is satisfied with the performance.
“For the past 15 years, from owning a grocery store to having my own transportation company, DFSK has always been by my side,” said Carlos.
He said that he is looking forward to being among the first owners of the new NEV once it is available in Peru.
