Guangzhou has activated a “five suspensions” policy, halting all non-essential services as Super Typhoon Ragasa approaches the coast of western Guangdong.
All schools and universities suspended classes on Tuesday, and factories were shut down from 7 pm.
Restaurants, including takeout services, as well as shops and leisure venues, ceased operations from 9 pm. Public transport, from taxis to the metro, will be suspended from midnight on Wednesday.
Essential operations—including water, power, and gas supply, along with telecommunications and medical services—will continue.
